Dick Farley’s Story.

I had heard about some radical Australian who had dared to question the teaching of golf’s impregnable “Establishment”, so I decided to check it out. In 1996 I went to Virginia were Gerry Hogan was to give a brief talk and clinic and what I heard and saw were initially beyond my comprehension. It directly challenged every fundamental belief that I had held for so long about the golf swing, yet results were happening in front of my eyes that I could not believe were possible. I later introduced my partner, Rick McCord to Hogan’s work. A long and intense relationship developed between the three of us. Every question that Rick and I could ask was answered and every answer was fully supported by immutable law and rules. We were finally forced to accept that this understanding is the long awaited Major Breakthrough in the understanding of the golf swing that someone, somewhere, at sometime would eventually make. Collectively Rick and I have taught golf professionally for about 85 years. No one has ever tried harder or applied themselves more diligently, in trying to understand the true fundamentals of the golf swing. Our goal has always been to seek information that could be proven as “ truth” with measured results. We believe that Gerry Hogan has done that. As a result we did what was morally and ethically the right thing to do; we made Mr. Hogan an offer to become a partner in Swing’s The Thing, which he accepted.

After field testing Gerry Hogan’s concepts for over a year I still can not believe the results I am getting in my teaching. Gerry’s beliefs are based on immutable Laws and Rules that are easy for the students to understand and easy to apply.

Dick and Rick have conducted numerous teaching clinics and seminars for the PGA of America in an effort aimed at helping other golf professionals become better teachers. They have been on the staff of Golf Magazine for over 25 years, have authored more than 100 instruction articles on the golf swing and have been featured on six Golf Magazine covers. They have produced several outstanding golf instruction videos covering virtually every aspect of the game.

Our Dilemma

Gerry had warned us both, many times, to “be wary of the questions that we ask because we may not like the answers that we would get. If you don't like the answers, just stop asking the questions.”

 Eventually we were confronted with a dilemma and it was then that we did come to understand why he kept repeating that warning.  We did come to know, with an unquestionable certainty, that many of the beliefs that we had treasured and supported were in fact questionable. We accepted that we were at a crossroads and had to make some decisions and we chose to swallow professional pride and honor our obligations to our clients, our students, all of them.

We had always sought the truth and, when we found it, we knew we had to follow it to its conclusion. We are now going to do all in our power to expose these truths to the world at large."

Since combining Gerry Hogan’s technology of the immutable Laws and Rules of motion into our proven teaching concepts, our success has grown at an astonishing rate.
